Soma Coal Washing Plant was successfully put into operation in 2005 as the biggest coal washing plant in terms of capacity in Turkey and Europe and that plant is installed on an area of 25,000 m2.The facility has been designed to operate at an annual production capacity of 7 million tons and it currently operated at a capacity of 800 tons/hour. The project designing and engineering of the plant were made by British Dorr – Oliver company, which is the world’s giant in this sector, and 3,000 tons of steel was used in the erection of this facility. A part of the equipment was supplied from British Conn-Welt company while the other parts thereof from the US CMI company and Swiss Metso company. The total investment amounts to nearly USD 15 million.
Within the scope of this project, 600,000 m3 excavation works were done and the construction of a cement plant with a 900,000 tons/year capacity was completed on a turn/key basis together with the management and social buildings, machinery, and all types of units, equipment, and systems including installation thereof.
